Let's
Get Rid of the Myths
-
A bat is a flying
mammal (the only flying mammal) and is not a rodent.
-
Rabies...... Let get rid of
this once and for all. Bats are more prone to rabies than cats, dogs, and other mammals.
-
"Blind as a bat": Not only do bats see well, but they also have a
sophisticated sonar system that makes the air force jealous.
-
Getting in your hair.
Poppycock! Can you imagine anything that has the ability to see, use sonar, and
catch over 3000 bugs a night. Blundering into someone's head?
In Reality
-
The individual bat is natures
way of removing night flying insects.
-
In most species the female bat has only one baby per year and without the help
of man made bat shelters these gentle creatures are running out of housing in
today's modern world.
-
Either purchase or build a bat
house, and place it on the side of a building or a tree in a sheltered area, at
least 8ft high.
